For those hunting tuna tomorrow. Best fishing for us was around 44’34x125’14-12. Better bite in the afternoon. We got 19 good grade and lost sooooo many but a first timer got to reel in fish until his arms were tired. Best gear was zucchini followed by Mex flag then plain cedar.

Best of luck.

Just a quick report for anyone headed out tomorrow. Plan was to head to the beaver basin. Wet the lines around daisy banks. Had our first one at 8:30am at 44.38..124.50.. 39 miles out. Ended up staying in the area most the day. Had a few jumpers. Ended with 6 in the boat, 3 lost. Worked the area with about 8 other boats. Weather was great. 108 miles total, 30 gal burned. Only my second trip, so I was happy with our results.

First I want to apologize, I wasn’t in our boat….which has a good range radio. Apparently this friends radio transmits much better than it receives. When I got to shore I asked my buddy if I was walking on folks and he said all the time……sorry I couldn’t hear conversation in the distance……that was rude of me

Same story scratched out 18 ….42 / 52, the only weird thing was a fish hit a hand line, boat was slowed back but not stopped, and before I could grab it , it went deep and straight down and got cut off with the prop. Never had that happen before.

22 good albies at 44 33 125 18 today. Probably didn't need to run that far but we just kept pushing west getting bit. 3-4 inch clones in Mexican flag and zucchini with 5" splasher birds in front. 6.5 mph
And they say don’t leave fish to find fish! I should have went 125+ like my original plan. Thanks for the upsetting report lol

Tuna are close, we did well today at 44.43 x 124.50 west side of the hill, had a few doubles tried to covert more but picked away at singles untill bight turned on at 1500. Found a nice school of bait tuna were feeding on, every pass resulted in single or double. Left them bighting.
Morning was dark color colones, and plugs. Bight died for an hour around high tide them picked back up once we headed a bit east up the hill.
Afternoon bight was all top water 100 yard back from boat on bird chains. No hand line bights, dang good grad of fish!
Ended the day with 12, plenty for my little boat
Good luck to anyone heading out!

Despite a string of occurrences that burned some valuable time, we (2 POB) put 15 pigs in the boat yesterday (Sat) just short of the 125 line (40/59). The thunderstorm delayed our departure, bilge pump temporarily died on the grounds, got a blue shark wrapped around the lower unit and prop, and struck a sunfish.

Water was 62+ past Daisy and there wasn't much for life to indicate fish, just blind trolling, then we just drilled a hole where we found 'em. We deployed fast troll gear just after Daisy for about an hour and a half with no love before switching to our standard albie gear. All in all it was a great day on the water. Good luck to y'all running today.

Mother of all tangles happened when damn shark took the outside clone and went back and forth tying 7 lines in big knot……..cut and retie.
Interesting , the boats down around Coos bay had great number all year and now vanished, even way way past 125.

Yesterday was a head scratcher for us. Started at 44.35/125.05 and worked that for most of the day for only three fishšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø. Other boats right there were scratching out some and we would see jumpers so we knew the fish were there but it wasn’t our day. We tried everything we had color wise. Clones, X-raps, cedar plugs in different shapes and sizes, swim baits, adjusted speed, jigged after the few hook ups we had and got not much for our efforts. We had two guys on board that hadn’t gotten out this year so we were hoping to fill their cupboards so I’m a little disappointed for them but I guess that just means we have to go again. Some days are just like that I guess but still sucks. The few we caught were great grade of fish thoughšŸ‘

Final count on Wild Card was 21 chonky albacore, 40# of mackerel, one nice ling and a rockfish. Almost all of our tuna came on trolled blue tuna scampi or custom swim baits.

We scratched out 7 by 10:30 or so then it went dead. Bite turned on around 2:00 or so and was pretty steady until we ran out of space and ice. Saw scattered little pods of jumpers who refused our chum and casted offerings… had good luck trolling around them.

We put 147 miles on the boat for the day.
