0 for 1 this evening at Davis from 5:30 to 7:30. Solid takedown on a pink cascade soft spinner and hoochie but was gone by the time I got the rod out of the holder.

This was my last day for chinook as I’m away this weekend. I feel pretty good about my first season with a boat with 5 keepers on 15 or so trips. I’ve never targeted coho specifically outside of bank fishing the Sandy. Same idea as chinoook but higher in the water column? I hate to think this was my last day on the water until springers.

Thanks everyone for your help this season. This forum has been a great resource.

3 of us, my sister, my wife and myself fished the deadline today at my usual bankers hours. Started slow. We fished well outside the mob which was even worse today. What a CLUSTER!!!! It didn't look to me like they were doing all that well. Fish were being caught but nothing like Monday. We saw a couple MAJOR tangles and one "minor disagreement".
My wife broke the ice after a couple hours with a beauty 16# URB buck. About an hour later my sister got a spunky 12# hen. I'd guess a mid river fish. The eggs were about half developed. That fish ran her line counter out to 170'at one point! Then after another hour plus my rod goes off. A pretty little 8# buck in the ice chest.
All fish were hooked well away from the crowd running 50'-70' on the line counter in 45'-60' of water.
All on spinners. One on a Simon 3.5, 1/2 copper/chartreuse with a red dot, one on a VIP 3.5 copper/red and one on a Short Bus "Hussy" Tyee blade.

At one point there were boats in the channel that didn't yield to a tug pushing double grain barges. He actually had to slow to a crawl, honk and honk until the &/@#$ finally got out of the way. Even my sister commented that tug boat driver is "ANGRY HONKING ".

Enjoy the extention, it'll be nice to spread out!!

I don't drink anymore but Stick'em, that Dove hunt sounds awesome!!!

Well the wind wasn't unfishable, but the weeds were. Worst it's been since mid August. Managed to lose a nice URB while trying to solo net. Lost my balance on a big wind wave and that was that. Oh well, back at it tomorrow.

Edit:
I admittedly made that post a couple minutes before I intended to take out. Things happen sometimes 😂

Looks like a really nice meal happened

Fish or Golf: If it was me I would dress that baby with a steel file, then sandpaper, then steel wool, drive slow enough to avoid any vibrations and fish on until a spare could be had. Fish using your kicker if you have to (I've done it plenty of times). Props can be rebuilt amazingly well, even in November.
I think the prop is the least of his worries CCW, looks like he'll be in the market for a used lower unit.

Damn good bite after work. 2/4 on one pass, Jack attack, lost a pig, released a bass, and got one. Glad we have a few more days.

Way too many suspended weeds tonight.

Saw you out there right before I made my exit. Definitely marked more fish on my final pass than the entire rest of the day. I think things were turning on as I was heading down river.

Fished the deadline yesterday from ~0930-3pm with two of my kiddos and we went 1-2 with a couple more grabs that didn't stick. Didn't seem to be as good of a bite as Monday but still saw a good amount of fish caught. I am continuing to learn about this new to me Columbia river fall salmon fishery. We picked up a wild coho jack within the first half hour that my 9 y/o daughter fought and landed. She got an ovation from every boat around which was really cool. After that our boat went cold for a couple hours and then just after noon we almost had a double. My rod didn't stick but my daughter got to fight a nice fish from the rod holder for a couple of minutes. Unfortunately it popped off about 30ft out- gotta love barbless. Had another grab a couple hours later and that was all the action for us. The day got hampered a little bit when my daughter took a 5/0 BRB hook through the tip of her ring finger. I suppose this scenario was one example of barbless being a blessing. SOMEONE forgot to charge the MinnKota batteries and midway through the day the bow mount died. So I had to run the boat from the tiller like everyone else. What a good reminder of how much of a difference that bow mount makes ESPECIALLY with the children on board. The day was a success since everyone had fun (besides the hook incident) however I am 3 trips in for the fall season with no fish to take home.

The spinner rod definitely outfished the SB yesterday. For those running spinners, are you scenting? Bait? or nada? We were tipping ours with c00nshrimp and it seemed to do the trick.

The bonkfest continues, tonight with professional photography! 😂

I don’t use any kind of scent (bait) on spinners this time year. Most I’ll ever do is throw a prawn on one (I hate gel scents).
