Different day for us today. Launched at SBM again. Fishing at first light.

Two bites including one ferocious take down. Stayed on for a few seconds but came unpinned.

Much slower all around. There was a 2 hour window we didn’t see a single net. Called it at 1pm.

WEEDS were TERRIBLE.

Seems like the livescope is helping a few boats.

I hate that I’m going to spend $3500 to get one. I also hate that I know it works.

Decided to fish the incoming this evening. Started at the tail end of outgoing and weeds were non existent. Tide flipped and the weed pattys came in force. The water temp this evening on the garmin showed 73.4. Tons of marks, water temps just keeping them off the bite I guess.

On a side note, we did an evening plug run at meldrum for coho last night and saw 6 coho belly up floating down river, I assume from temperature stress.

Livescope can be frustrating. I fished out of Chinook Landing the past couple of days. It’s frustrating seeing fish follow your bait for up to a minute and not bite it. Now I find that I only use Livescope to see what depth my gear are at. Marked a lot of fish but they had their noses buried in the river bottom as they cruised upriver.

Water temp was 70.8 using my Garmin GT56 transducer. We fished from ~06:00am to 10:30am. Marked at least 60 salmon each day, but they only had one thing in mind.

I accidentally posted this report in the wrong thread yesterday, but we got one at Davis yesterday around 730 on a bronco hootchie spinner, near bottom, trolling uphill. Saw maybe three others caught for about 30 boats. Temperature was reading 73 degrees. Weeds were not too bad.

Heading back out this morning. Hoping we can finally hit it on a day where they're snapping. Good luck everyone!

Another good start to the morning!

I can't even begin to describe how much more enjoyable it is to not fish in the middle of 300 boats with non-stop boat wakes all day long. I know those areas are more productive, but it takes all the fun out of it for me.

Hot tamale super bait, near bottom, uphill troll.

Right after we got my fish delt with and back to fishing, Dad's rod goes down. It's fighting weird and we think it may be a sturgeon, until all of a sudden Dad reels in a rod. We get the rod secured and then realize there's a fish on the other end. It's all tangled up in Dad's gear so he starts hand lining it in. Gets the fish near the boat and it's a nice one like mine, but it pops off before we can net it. Some dude anchored in a yacht between barges watches this go down and says 'hey did you just snag a rod? It fell out of my rod holder some how.' So, we motored over and returned his rod. I was really hoping to net the fish - he wasn't getting that back 😁

Seems like a really slow morning. We haven't seen another fish caught. I did have one more quick drive by that slammed it once but didn't hook up.

Oh, and the temperature is 72.4 degrees.

Epic story/memory!

That's some crazy AI photo editing. Nice work on the fish!

I've also been enjoying fishing away from the fleet. 3 takedowns, one lost right at the boat Saturday afternoon on a new to me troll. Fished same spot yesterday morning and this morning for no more bites. Very very strange given number of fish.

Hope it turns soon.

Good:
1/2 on a seemingly slow day! Rotten Banana mini got it done. Missed a rod-in-hand bite on a naked 3.0 spinner. Anytime the bite dies, we always pair down to a dark 3.0 blade. It’s usually good for a window.

Not so good:
Crushed a jumping sturgeon at the mouth of Multnomah Channel on our morning ride out. Broke my prop.

How does that even happen!?

I think we’re close to “wide open.” I feel it
