New G Loomis Warranty Program?

I searched for recent posts on this but didn't find anything. Does G Loomis have a new warranty program? When did it go into effect?

I've got a reel seat on a FR 1088 GL3 that has come loose (reel rotates in relation to rod/eyes). Seems like a no-brainer warranty repair. I realize I'll have to pay shipping to get it there.

Now they require that rods be registered within 30 days and receipt uploaded? I've got a bunch of G Loomis rods. Don't have receipts and can't remember exactly where I purchased. Some rods are 25+ years old. I've had a few warranty repairs with them before and it was always great service. Never had to do this before

I contacted customer service with my questions. We'll see how it goes......

The only ones you are required to register are the more recent versions that have white lettering near the logo that almost looks like a serial number. Can’t remember exactly how many digits - maybe 6 or so. New versions also come with a tag affixed to the rod (guide or hook keeper) describing the registration process. Older rods had two gold letters in the same location that acted as a “serial number” (it was actually a code for the month and year the rod was built). Those still go by the same old process. All that said, just contact Loomis and they’ll take care of you - they are a great company to work with.

I haven't used their warranty for years, but in the last 2 months I broke 2 rods, one high sticking while bottom fishing and 1 rod by my own mistake. I mailed them in with a letter and address, shortly after I had 2 new rods. No charge and no shipping. Can't get better than that! I remember paying about 70 bucks years ago for the same issue.

Edge uses Gary’s legendary nfc blanks and that’s about it. I’ve purchased 4 rods and have had to send in 2. First one had misaligned guides for the top and bottom pieces. I sent both pieces back. They sent a new top section but sent the SAME bottom section back. I didn’t want to bother sending it again. I just received a rod from them and the top and bottom pieces don’t fit properly no matter how far you stick them together. It still wobbles at the joining of the two pieces. Never had to send a loomis, Shimano, Lamiglas, Daiwa, Okuma or north river in ONCE. Edge boasts “USA Made” but their quality is subpar in comparison to Chinese made rods. I want to like Edge but I don’t think they care about what the consumer thinks. Customer service and QC is atrocious. I had an e6x for 5 years. Caught about a hundred steelhead, 50 or so salmon, hundreds of Shad with it while hiking and abusing it. It’s got beauty marks and that’s about it.

Not sure where you live, but for me it's 10-20 bucks for a tube (PVC) and 30-40 to ship (shipping prices have gone way up). Then there's the value of my time. Loomis will take care of you whatever you decide.

I've had a couple of people PM for specifics. Here is the response from G Loomis on how to register older rods:

Rod warranty and expeditor is done online now at Gloomis.com. Visit the website and create an account. Once you do so, you will want to register your rod. Older rods aren't going to have serial numbers, so when it asks for it, you can click on the "No serial number on your rod?" for an option to enter your model number. After you do so you will have to provide a round a bout date on when you purchased the rod, you can scroll past proof of purchase on older rods to submit it. Rods purchased before August 2020 do not need proof of purchase. When it is submitted, you can click on the support tab to start the warranty or expeditor.

While I haven't had many occasions to use it, the Loomis Xpeditor Program is pretty awesome. Call them, pay $100 (used to be $50), get a new rod shipped to you, and then ship broken rod back. When I have time to send rods directly to Loomis, they've fixed them for free. No questions asked. Love my Loomis rods and have ZERO complaints about their service.

Update - They have had it for 3+ months and nada :( It's a pretty standard rod. How hard is it to grab one off the rack and stick it in a tube? I emailed them a few weeks ago and no response so far.

I think their new warranty registration program is going to drive down the used rod market. On their newer rods if you don't have a receipt you are going to be SOL (if I understand it right). I wouldn't buy a used newer Loomis rod unless it was so cheap I wouldn't need to replace it if it broke.

About 2 months ago I broke the tip off my G Loomis E6x spinning rod and I called G Loomis. I was told they do not take any walk ins because of Covid, which seems strange to me. They told me to ship the entire rod to them so they can inspect it. I needed my rod so I ordered a tip and gave them the model number etc. which they would make right there in the factory for me and I was charged $50.00 total including shipping and I received the well packaged tip in about 2 weeks. I would have taken too long to ship the rod to them and I would never have received it back to go on our fishing trip. The customer service agent was polite and professional in every respect. It probably is a good idea for $50.00 to order an extra tip when you purchase a new G Loomis rod as usually the tip of the rod is what normally breaks.
