I used to enjoy a cool one at the Punjab Tavern on SE Foster Rd.

If that is the Lotus in downtown Portland, the building was torn down a few years ago. I used to go there once in a while in the 90's, maybe I was part of the young crowd back then (not so much anymore )

 

It was more fun in the 70s and 80s

 

Rookies in Monmouth. Now it is my dentist in the same building. I always have a good story to tell depending on which room I'm in...

Coleman's on hwy 6. Wasn't much of a bar... more so a place to get a good meal after fishing the Wilson or a day of riding at Brown's camp. There is a new restaurant there I hear is pretty decent.

And last but certainly not least, "The Pub" in Monmouth. A block away from campus and was the bar to go to on a friday or saturday night. It is now a nice cafe where students can study... I met my wife there when she was bartending 11 years ago; how I snagged her I still have no clue!

Tiny Tavern Eugene before it sold owners, bowl of chili and and Ole on tap, $3.00.

 

El Sombrero in Eugene, circa the 1970s. I think it was on 11th near Willamette. (And the Rose and Thistle for fish and chips..)

 

The Penguin in Sellwood. A neighborhood Tavern turned Bar and it didn't matter if you were red, white, blue, yellow or orange

 

Yep...was a great place.....another one I can't remember closed in same neighborhood...that been there as well for a while.. ...thats recent.

Yes, It was on Sandy, fixed it on my post.
Used to go there for the buckets of steamers.
Made a great Rueben, it was huge. one of the few places in Portland that served razor clams.
In the waaaay back, they put out pistachios to munch on ( when pistachios were dyed red and white).

 

The Antlers in Hines. Our basketball team would stop for one before games.

The Palace in Burns. It was also known as the "rug room." It had shag carpet on the walls next to the booths. Live music from house band Friday and Saturday nights.

 

Not really a bar or tavern, but I miss this place. Liked it way better than the Canoe.

After putting that up, I miss Hagars that used to be where Yoshides riverside restaurant is.

 

Crimeny sakes!!! Memories of that bar have been driving me nuts since I restarted fishing the Sandy in 2016… with a 20 year gap.

Oscars in Vancouver was my watering hole. Such a great memory an time😉 Yeah yeah the good stuff.

 

Taco (or Tequila) Flats across the 82nd and Johnson Creek Fred Meyer. Mean Tortilla chips, hamburger, diced onions and tomatoes, topped with sour cream and avocado dip.

 

Bend, Oregon. Trappers Tavern. It went away when they built the parkway.

Spent a fair amount of time at Sloan's on Russel street (Portland)....ya know the one w/ the semi truck coming out the wall. Also Skyline Tavern....up on skyline. You could bring you own meat to grill.

 

The Steinhaus on 82nd at Division. Live music 5 nights a week. Cheap drinks poured strong 365 days a year.

The Hobbit on 39th and Holgate. Nice place to listen to music underage in the 80s.

 

The Old Woolen Mill………. Bend, Oregon.😎

 

The Key Hole 102nd and Halsey. $.10 beers on Sunday night

The Irish bank tavern on second in Portland. Met my wife there in 1998

 

The Overlook in N Portland. Was also called Devlins. We would get off work around 8:00 AM on Swan Island. We would order food (biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs over easy plopped on top for me) and get served in the bar section. With lots of beer, because it was our evening. Breakfast of Champions!
