There was a wiper motor assembly in Classifieds a couple days ago. Look at AM equipment as they supply most of the boat manufacturers.

 

Get the real intermittent switch. Mine have low and high speeds, plus 0-15 second delay. So much better than having to look down for the switch(s) and keep turning them on and off. Can also connect them to a couple pint water tank for FW rinse.

Make sure you buy a quality motor and quality wiper arm + blade. The original motor, arm, and blade on my boat were very poor quality and lasted only a few years. I went to Englund Marine and asked to make sure the replacement I bought was a quality motor, arm, and blade. One of my crew and I installed it and a new switch, way better. It's a two speed motor and returns to the starting location automatically instead of me having to time when I turned it off. Unfortunately I didn't buy one with an intermittent setting, sure wish I had. An adjustable intermittent setting would be even better. The replacement has been working great for quite a few years now and I expect it will keep working for a while longer, hopefully quite a while longer. It seemed expensive at the time, but was definitely worth it. I thought so the first time I used it and continue to think it was worth it.

I was reading the Exalto link provided above and it stipulates--- No Warranty-?????? that doesnt sound too good to me.

 

Make sure you apply a couple of coats of rustoleum paint to seal the new motor and protect from rust.

 

Thank you for all the information. I like the going to Englund Marine idea, for a couple reasons 1, I can hold it in my hand and inspect it before I buy it. 2. They might have something else I can't live without 😁

Google 'Ongaro' on the interwebs. Two speed, parks when you turn it off. Also the sweep angle is adjustable over a 60 to 110 degree range. This is important because boat windshields don't always allow a 90 degree sweep. They also sell the arms. The Ongaro wiper motor has two models with different shaft lengths, long and short. That allows for install through a thin or thick bulkhead for different boats.

Wiper motors in a salt environment are not going to last very long as far as I know. I used that model above on three different boats now and get 5 years service usually. About $100 for the motor online.

Intermittant wiper controls can be added in the wiper motor switch circuit and this allows the use of any wiper motor.

 

I too have windshield wiper problem but the motor isnt the problem. The wiper doesn't hold enough pressure on windshield. I do like the idea of the switch though.
