Can somebody elaborate on ccesss to bank fishing Wind river above bridge at CR mouth? Newspaper is mentioning Coffer dam, I did heat it is on private land...Are there other access spots in canyon or below?

There isn't any.

I had feeling this will be hard...
At least where is coffer dam - above or below Carson Hot Springs Golf Course ? I can see Shepard falls on map, nothing else...

 

Its not worth your gas money if you don't have the $200.00 key on the private side and they are not doing much either. If you want access then drive up to the hatchery and start working your way down. If you have not spent years learning the river it will be very hard to find fish. At a $1.00 for 2 oz. for lead be ready to spend a pay check learning. There has only been about 180 fish to the hatchery, I'm surprised it is still open.:twocents:

 

Don't be terribly suprised..... For those that do have a gate key fishing has been right up there with rewarding.....

Even if you do have a gate key be prepared for a heck of a walk down...either side is a biotch...

 

Thanks for inputs. Story is same I did hear in past...you have to pay to get to good spot by the dam

 

You don't need a key to get there, but don't expect many to tell you how to get there. Even if they did it would be hard for you to follow unless someone took you.

Instead go up farther towards 7 mile and look for the cars. Then just follow the people.

 

Re: Wind river - update on coffer dam

I did ask locals arround, they pointed location. On the lot I did meet guy who show me way in. I did see at least 10 springers being landed within 3 hrs- all by guys from "easy and pre-paid side". Fisherman who showed me path to dam did hook later at least 25 lb springer, but fish end up breaking tip of his rod ( and subsequently 40 lb mono..)!!
