Question for all ye lads out there.
I have been staying at the coast last few days had originally planned on it being a fishing vacation but boat troubles changed that.
Anyway missus wanted chinook tonight after she saw it advertised locally off a boat in Newport.
I went down and they had small 7-10 lbs fish .
I had to run back to the truck to get my wallet so when I got back it was filleted and bagged. Got back to the rental and the missus is giving me grief as she opened the bag and the meat is snow white.
Have any of ye had a fish cut like this ? I googled it and it said it was a genitic thing . Fish looked nice and bright. I mean not chrome but not dark
Am kind of weirded out by it .
Any info or experience would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Jody

I've heard of this happening when they feed on baitfish exclusively. They're supposed to still be good eating, I've heard some people even like them better. I've never caught or eaten one. I'm sure others more knowledgeable than myself will reply. I'm pretty sure I remember a thread about them on here last year

It's known as Ivory King salmon. Pretty rare and desirable have a really high fat level. I caught a 30 lb Ivory last year. I thought it was okay on the barbeque but it made the best smoked salmon ever.

Exactly, I also not long ago got through a 37 lb one and this one even seemed like one of the best I've ever had.
