West Puget Island — Warrior Rock is only open through 9/6.

Above Warrior Rock - Bonneville Dam is open through 9/16.

I doubt there’ll be any extensions. They predicted significantly more fish this year than last. They’ll want to have good indications of the run size as seasons are set right up on the impact threshold. 2 weeks off on nearly the peak of the run allows a good assessment. And frankly, 90% of the effort evaporates after Labor Day Weekend, regardless of fish.

Oct 1 comes pretty fast and chinook are usually available then. Coho are.
I don't know. I fish out of Camas/Washougal. They closed it down about the same time last year, but re-opened thru Sept. once they looked at the numbers.

What's up with the boat crash at Longview today?
Just a little info from family texts. My sisters brother in law had 2 friends in his boat today. He looked up in time to see a boat coming at them at what he thought was 40 mph. He was able to step out of the way. Doesnt sound like he was injured. Another guy was knocked unconscious and into the water but very luckily seems to be doing ok. Unfortunately the oncoming boat hit his buddy. Fractured skull, broken bones, punctured lung. Must have been cut up pretty bad. Sounds like blood everywhere. He is in a Vancouver hospital in really bad shape. The oncoming boat did stop. Apparently law enforcement arrived and wrote tickets. Havent heard condition of his boat. Scary stuff! If any of you are believers the injured passenger could sure use some prayers right now!

A little more, Had to be stabilized before being life flighted to Vancouver trauma. Broke back in more than 1 place, broke, both collarbones, Multiple broken ribs, Bleeding internally, hard time breathing. He is in very critical condition. This is just quick preliminary stuff she is hearing. Could change.
Were they on anchor when they got hit? That sad… I hope he pulls though ok.

Crazy day out on the mouth of the cow. Not many boats. Didn’t see very many fish caught. Got one jack for 2 rods and 3bites.
Trolling is slow right now. The wobbler bite was fairly good yesterday. We went 1 for 2, boat inside us got 3 and the boat inside them got 1. Saw a few other caught also. All before 8:30, it basically died afrer that.

Thats scary.... That's one of the biggest reasons we always wear PFD's in our boat. You get ran over and knocked overboard unconscious, or worse, it's game over without a PFD.

We have had some close calls with ski boats not paying attention while pulling tubes or skiers. One time it was one of those wake boats running with its nose in the air. Granted... they were not moving fast, but they were flying blind with the bow in the air and watching their skiers instead of where they were going. I've got to the point where i keep a close eye on approaching boats on step and keep an air horn canister by my trolling motor seat at all times. In crowded areas with ski boats present, we head back to the dock early anyway.

I was out there yesterday. We got our two fish trolling spinners. Released a wild Jack coho too. Got back to the ramp and when I was up top I heard a LOUD crack. Turned around and saw the two boats next to each other. Someone next to me confirmed they had collided. The boat that was running stayed on scene but didn’t appear to help much, just doing circles around the other boat. Thank goodness a guide, Cliff Sallee, was nearby, saw it happen, and immediately had his clients reel up. They went over and helped a gentleman out of the water. The more injured of the two gentleman was on the floor of the boat that got hit and in rough shape. We cleared the ramp for the ambulance and myself and a few others helped the EMT’s lift the gentleman onto a gurney and then push him up the ramp. Pretty gnarly scene to say the least. It was a very harsh reminder to keep your head up and always be attentive during this busy time of year. Prayers to those involved and their families!
