Thanks for the heads up, but any time you are on line, on any site there is a good possibility there are bottom feeders following you. Just recently I have been hit that I owe money from a toll, an email that I had a undelivered package at UPS and needed to pay extra postage with a credit card, i received another email that I owe money to the IRS. (The last one may be true), but always proceed with caution, and to bad scammers exist on any site.

 

I got the toll one also. That and the IRS thing are always a possibility, so they make great scams!

My standard response to any spam/scam text like that is usually ‘you should drive your car off a cliff’ or ‘you should seriously consider drinking bleach’. Not sure if I’ve succeeded at convincing anyone yet.

 

I recently got an email that I may have some money coming from someone that passed away.

ANY text or email from the IRS is FALSE delete quickly! Anything from the IRS will be via letter form only!
Another red flag for scams via email or text is grammar errors pay attention and do not reply delete and don’t blink an eye. Hope this helps.

 

A week doesn't go by that I don't get email(s) telling me I've been re-upped with virus protection for my computer. Always a year of coverage. From $199.00-$699.00. Oh, they urge me to call them if I believe a mistake has been made! 888 number usually. And ALWAYS, from a gmail account. Now if I didn't live in potland, and have to drive here, I would be wondering how anyone could be so dumb. But driving here for all these years tells me they must do pretty good here.

 

I’ve had two emails in the last couple days claiming to be IFish people. One each in response to each of the comment/post I’ve made in the classifieds. Stay vigilant, ifishers.

How did they get an email account associated with your ifish account? I don’t see that as info listed in your profile

 

That’s a good question. I don’t know where they find it, but we do each have an email address associated with our accounts.

 

The IRS will NOT contact people via e-mail.

AI and its potential to wreak havoc.

 

There are also the Amazon emails, saying your account has been charged $699 (or something like that) for product X and it is on it's way. First time I received that one, I thought "Hey, I didn't order that!", but a quick check of your bank/paypal/creditcard etc reveals it's scam.

 

I get those from PayPal, never used it and don’t plan to, delete! I’m definitely not on the upper scale of technology but are these human generated or how are they produced? Thanks
