The roof of my sisters house took a couple hits from branches and with the rain forcasted for Monday its time to find some tarps to prevent water damage.

Harbor Freight has been a "go to" place for tarps but is there a better value somewhere near PDX. I'm in Milwaukie area.

Rounding error indeed.šŸ‘ The majority of tarps will collapse from UV in less than a year. Sister's roof is getting repaired pretty soon after the snow stops. August?

I'm in a tarp buying rut since tapping the Harbor Freight tarp dept. After downloading ing an iFish search I realized this topic hasn't been touched.

In hindsight I ought to have labeled this thread "Tarp Talk"

Thanks to all for the many different Tarp Shopping Ideas. I like to blame my isolated seasonal work commercial fishing for not being tapped in on tarp stores. Plus there's that "let's just get what I know and "gitterdone".

My 15x21 tent floor tarp from Beckle Canvas is still functioning as a floor tarp
That's another caliber of tarp. (Plus it's loaded with various size holes)

Bottom line I thank all who gave me a heads up on new tarp buying options.

Most everything I buy at Harbor Freight breaks early. Their tarps are thinner.
Just depends on the size and thickness you want and what it has to stand up to.
Costco are reasonably priced.- but aware of thickness

One thing I saw on a neighbors house - The people doing the repairs used multiple layers- They do not trust one tarp. Looked like a cotton with a plastic over it. MAybe it saves the plastic ones.

Another thought would be a construction supply store: It is clear reinforced (looks like strands of fiberglass) tarp in about a 100 ft. roll box. When you roll a piece out it unfolds to about 20 -30 feet wide, easily cover a house for your time period. Cut off what you need roll up corners and tie off. We have been using it for years to cover our wall tents....lets the sun come through:). You have likely seen it before on large construction projects.:twocents:

I have purchased all the tarp trim levels at Harbor Freight. I am starting to think that the thickness is not as important as we tend to think. No matter how much I spend, the grommets tear out with the slightest wind/stress. I have not figured out how to shop for stronger grommets. Ideas? Think I'll start at Coastal.
