I've gone through maybe a half dozen different Shimano, Daiwa and Banax electrics. The cord is not interchangeable among all electrics or even within brand. However the cord for the Daiwa 750 fit many of them.

I have a half dozen cords for the two reels that I have all wired with Scotty plugs. I did notice on the couple new that I bought off of Amazon this year the wire gauge seemed to be a bit smaller. Noticed this after stripping the insulation off to wire the plug.

Sometimes, on eBay they show multiple cords with different pin diameters.

Such as this one:

For the Tanacom 750, 750 Bull and the 800, you want the 2.5mm version.

Here is actual measurements from my 750 :)

Also, measuring and looking at the power cord connector on the 500S (Japanese), the 750 Bull (Japanese), 750 US, 800 US models, they are indeed the same diameter.

Yes also Diawa,750,1000, use the same one. They sent me 1 correct and 3 that are too big. Ordered ones for 1000 Diawa. Even had different code #s on the 3, no #s on the correct one.

I’ve never had a problem with any of my power cords and I’ve had my Tanacom 750 & 1000 since early 2018. The eBay cords have been great and every one I’ve bought has been less than $5. Several cords have been converted into plugs, some I’ve kept with alligator clips and another cord has an EC5 connector for my jump starter. I hope I’m able to pay it forward and pass a free power cord to somebody in a pinch someday. No biggie helping out a fellow fisherman when they’ve cost less than a pack of black label herring! šŸ‘šŸ»

Good point. I carry 4 or 5 extras as well that fit the 750s. Some with Scotty plugs and some with clips. Cords are the weak point with electrics.

I've went through a few cords over the years, one was a cheap thin wire cord, the past few years has been the Gomexus. I think the plug end on the Gomexus are more durable than the factory Daiwa cord, more durable not indestructible.

Would you please share how you power your electric reel?

Myself and a few friends have splurged and purchased electric reels and now we are debating what would be the best way to connect the reels to power. Using the alligator clips and a standalone battery doesn't look very elegant...

The boat we will be using most of the time has receptacles for Scotty downriggers. Should we cut the alligator clips off and install Scotty male ends? How about leaving the EOM cable intact and make a pig tail that would connect to the Scotty receptacle? Is there a cable that can be purchased that already solved this issue?

How do you do it?

Thank you.
I installed a Scotty plug in on the starboard side of stern. My boats a Gradywhite 228 that has easy access to batteries positioned on both sides of stern. My friends usually use alligator clips and clip onto an extra battery on the stern. I have three batteries running on my stern that are all juiced up soon line charger.

I like the current set up allowing for both plug or alligator clips.
