Early on in the late (90s?) I saw guide Mike Kelly of FishReaper guide service (formally Hell's Anglers) catching more spring chinook than anyone else in the Columbia River. Mike and his wife/assistant Linda have always been friendly to us locals and willing to share (and recieve) information with me. I noticed he had boxes of Kwikfish of varying sizes and, mysteriously, I've been partial to the Double Trouble K-14 with a small sardine wrap ever since.

Here is the K-14 plug that has caught more springers than any other I've seen. It is the rare, no longer made, highly coveted "Pacific Watermelon" that Bob's Sporting Goods in Longview ordered and gave away to all of those that entered their springer contest years ago. It is similar to the commonly available "California Watermelon" but instead of a green metallic back, it is blue. This one is belongs to Team K.

I wish iFishers had chosen a Kwikfish with blue in it this year. Alas, that is not the case.
Brad's makes a similar one called a Brad's Killer Fish in the same color scheme. I recently picked out a few to put under the tree for myself, promising my wife that I'd forget about them and would be truly surprised.... that is not working.

This one , wrapped , out fished the boat twice last spring . It's a flatfish (F 4 ) . Everyone else sat around watching me catch fish . It tips forward farther than the Kwick fish when placed in the water . I attached a split ring which the lure does not come with & also put on treble hooks one size larger than it comes with . The fish seem to bend the hooks more often with the smaller ones .

6 boxes of Kwiks... 1box of 6 is what I carried last year. This year I missed out on catching fish because I didn't have the right size. A guy can go to the poor house fetching lures.

My favorites are color matched to the weather and the clarity of the water. Where I missed the bite was lure size. My K15's aren't always the right size to match current.
