We went 2/2 yesterday. Fished four different holes within ten miles of the Ringold launch. Got both fish in the same hole, within 15 minutes of each other, then the bite turned off and spent the next hour and a half there without a bite. So we got kind of lucky to find two biters.
Of course, biters and eaters are two different things. We went 1/2 in the edible category.
Early, the water was super high and the weeds were so bad it was almost unfishable. But the water and weeds both receded and conditions were reasonable by late morning.
I'm ending my Fall season today, just based on the quality. Won't be back next week.
I'd be willing to do whatever is necessary to recover the fishery, up to and including closing it for however long it takes. But I suspect down river and ocean activities have a lot to do with the crash, so not sure it would do any good. Not wanting to get into a debate over what's causing it, I don't have the facts, and innuendo and rumor aren't compelling to me. I just want the responsible parties to do whatever is necessary to bring the fishery back to what it used to be.
