I'm planning to call ODFW for clarification but am wondering if anyone can share some insight.

If I get one of the late season archery elk tags that allows you to hunt both the controlled season and the general archery elk season, what is my bag limit during the general season? Is it different from the late bow tag's bag limit? And can I hunt any unit that’s open for general season, or do I have to hunt in the unit that my late season tag would be for?

Your late season tag is open for the general season archery tag as well. During the general season you can hunt any unit that is open to hunt on a general archery tag. During the general archery season hunters have to follow the bag requirements for the given unit. Please these are different.

Keep in mind you don't get to harvest more than one elk with this tag. If you harvest an elk in Sept, your tag is filled. You can’t go hunt during the late season. I know of atleast 2 people that have citations and are now sitting on the sidelines for 3 years because of this error.

My only other advice is if you get this tag actually hunt the tag. Many hunters are tempted to get the tag as a second chance to go hunt in Nov if they don't harvest an elk in Sept.

Wildwood did a very good job of describing this tag. Here is a little more data.

The late archery cow tag is also good in these areas;

Aug 30 - Sept 28
One elk-Units 15, 20, 23, 25 and 28
One bull-Untis 11, 12, 14, 17, 18 and 27
One bull, except one elk outside USFS lands-Units 16, 19, 21, 22, 29 and 30
One bull 3pt+-Units 10 and 24
One spike-Unit 26

If you do not fill your tag during this timeframe in one of these units, your controlled hunt will allow you to hunt one cow in the single unit you were successfully drawn for.

This is just my interpretation of the rules. A call to ODFW is advised for clarity.
