I’m not around my boat but what nut is it? Pictures? The nut on the end of Big Tiller adjusts throttle tension. Then there is another nut thing for adjusting the unit if your hooked up on power steering. My tiller height adjuster is definitely not a nut like what your talking about on my 115 Command thrust Mercury....

There is a bolt and jam nut right at the vertical pivot for tension, I just wasn't tightening it correctly but I got it figured out. you back off the jam nut tighten the bolt on the opposite side then tighten the jam nut back down. I just need to re read the manual for it to sink in.
