Via the Hotline (541) 962-2184, Manulife has closed all lands to public use in Northeast Oregon and Southeast Washington until further notice due to ODF increasing fire danger to extreme.

I heard reports of Major rain in Joseph and Enterprise this weekend but apparently it had no effect.

A lot of their land in NEO would be better off for moisture retention had they left any trees standing....lol. It is dry around my part of NEO but its August and it is always dry.
I understand the business end of shutting it down....I will never understand the reasoning behind clear cutting in NEO tho....smh.

No kidding! I stopped hunting up there when Hancock/manulife went scorched earth with their logging technique.

Manulife being a company that’s receives a large Access & Habitat check each year (including a extra bump for not allowing camping spots anymore) you would think their obligation to stay open would be a little higher compared to others. I do not hunt their ground and wasn’t terribly impressed when I did (agreed with Umpquahntr’s comment above). If I did I would be reaching out to the A&H board before the next renewal agreement asking them to move to a payment per access day. Should encourage Manulife to remain open more. Just my 2 cents. What the AH program spent on that area last agreement was eye opening and it was definitely a hard one for the board to swallow last year. Hence their split decision.

Yuppers, ML closed all of the White River and Kapowsin rec access permits until further notice two weeks ago. Promised to reopen after the first rains came. That totally blew the bear opening. No matter, the rains and wet have been constant, with another 1/3 of an inch coming again today. Again, no matter.

However, all logging and tribal access in both areas has continued without interruption.
Amazing how the wet only fall on specific heads...
