Hey guys been looking for river, bay boat that has capability to safely fish the ocean. Been looking at several manufacturers which all seem nice but for 100k give or take I want to get it right. Was close to commit on a 23’ north river fastback when it was suggested to me to take a look at kingfisher. Stevens marine is closest dealer but have nothing in stock to view. They power them with mercury but I have never owned one and would like input there as well. All input appreciated thank

Ronaogg: nice boat! Is that kill bag stuffed with Tuna? Or Salmon?

I have owned Honda outboards, but three years ago I bought a Mercury command thrust 115 EFI. The price was right and they had a good warranty offer. I have had absolutely no problem with that motor. I liked it so much that two years ago I bought a Merc 30 for my 13 foot boston Whaler lake boat. Both have been good motors. As nice as my Honda's.

IMHO there really is not much difference between the current makers of 4 stroke engines. I looked at the Evinrudes, but all the stories I could find were people were very unhappy with factory customer service. So I chose Mercury.

Steven's is a great place to do business with.

It was a tuna day.. we finally switched over to kill bags and ditched the big yeti's. We can fit 25 tuna in one of the big kill bags. As far as engines go I agree that the 4 strokes that are out there nowadays are good no matter the manufacturer. I got a 8 year warranty on both engines and all the Mercury components on the boat.

The 2425 Escape is almost always going to have a .250 bottom. It’s technically an “upgrade” from the standard .190, but I have only seen a couple people order them without the upgrade.

Many manufacturers (including North River) list a lighter duty standard offering versus how they typically are configured sitting on a dealer’s lot.

A lot of people really like the Raider Coastal 2584 which is built somewhat local.
Raiders are an awesome boat and are built like a tank..

I looked at both, the Raider 25' Coastal hands down is more boat and a far better design. .160" sides and standard .250" bottom. The high bow was also appealing. It's worth a look if you haven't locked an order down yet. I cant ever get past everything being bolted on the kingfishers when I'm buying a welded boat. Just makes me feel like it's made for speed to build and not for top quality.

I was looking at this and was told the dead rise or something was different in regards to the hull and it was not recommended. food for thought I spent a solid 2 to 3 years piling over a bunch of boats at the lots and talking to all sorts of people and all the salesman who make money selling boats told me to buy a 21' boat.

There great on the days when the ocean is flat calm and good enough to get you back when the ocean is not friendly at all. It's also small and nimble enough to squeeze into the tiny river launches or lakes while able to provide decent deck space for four adults at B10.

Buy a boat that does everything in the PNW good and not tailored to handle one thing perfect. A general do it all boat whether a soft or hard top is really all one needs. For a lot bigger boat to be perfect (Example Tuna - 28" Pilot) I figure I can buy a lot of charter trips or buddy boat for those situations.
