Thinking of taking the wife and dogs out for our first spring outing this weekend. Thinking about Frog Lake or Timothy Lake near Mt. Hood. We have some crawdad traps and I was wondering if either of these lakes would have crawdads for trapping and also whether early May is too early for that. Also open to any other suggestions to lakes in that area. I don't know the area really well but can look up and follow google. We will be taking the Jeep but are not really hardcore challenging off roaders. Thanks for any input!!!

Thank you for the pics of Timothy. I have a long history with that lake even though I haven't been there since I left Portland in 1972.

My Dad and I fished Timothy the very first day it was open which was, I think, in 1956? We fished it every summer up until I left Portland. There used to be a long boardwalk that went all the way across the dam arm of the lake. So you didn't really need a boat, you could catch lots of fish off the boardwalk. But in the mid 60's Dad bought a boat so we quit fishing the boardwalk.

Kind of cool to see the trees growing all the way down to the lake. Back then, they cut down all the trees 60-70 yards back from the lake.

Once at Timothy prob around 1960 my Dad got his pic taken by a reporter from Fishing and Hunting News with "18 trout" and the pic wound up on the front page. I was still fishing and didn't in the pic. I was ******.
