My last season working on Kodiak i started tieing fly's with circle hooks. We never had a ploblem hooking fish too deep, but they were all wild fish so we gave it a shot and every fish in the circle hook was right in the corner of the mouth. Didnt miss any fish, as long as you didnt set the hook. We tied a lot leaches and roe patterns with them. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this?

I tried drift fishing circle hooks about 7 years ago on the Coquille and the Umpqua. We had tore up a couple of fish and I didn't want to see that happen again. What I found was I missed over half of the bites. It was a lot harder getting a hook into them although once you did they stayed put. And all the fish were hooked in the corner of the mouth as advertised with the hook coming out if we wanted it to.

Just food for thought based solely on my limited experience.
