Couple of years ago I was absolutely killing fish casting Swim Baits. As a normal addict, I ponied up and bought a bunch. Have not done well on them since and they sit in my shop during non-tuna time and in the boat when the tuna are in range.
I pulled one out on my last trip and they smelt HORRIBLE! The most toxic smell of a lure. There is some sort of liquification that has taken place and there is a liquid residue in the bags. So I am wondering if they are simply toast or if anybody else has dealt with this before?
The lure is still in good condition and we caught a fish on them trolling, but when we slowed down to cast, they did not get bit. I honestly can't stand the smell and will probably pitch them just for that reason.
On a side note, I bought another brand and they don't seem to have the same problem.
Any thoughts?
