Leo the 75 lb. Golden Retriever is almost 2 years now. Here he is younger. He’s likely the smartest dog I’ve ever had. And now we have a kitten that plays chasey fight games with Leo.

Gauge the Chocolate Lab lived to be 14. He was 94 lbs of wonderful, wise, attentive companion and likely the most photographed dog on iFish:

I can relate to that. My current lab took until he was almost 2 1/2yrs old to switch from a crazy puppy to an enjoyable dog I can go on hikes with him off leash. Like you I wasn't sure he was going to make it to 3yrs. Turned into the exact dog I wanted.
