So my 2004 2500 Deisel has popped a few codes up. One was for the crankshaft position sensor, and I've fixed that, but there are two other codes that do not make sense to me.

The crankshaft code had been around for a while off and on. The other day though the truck died at idle. Then it had a couple of surges, and the check engine light came on.

I dud the key thing and got 3 codes. One being the sensor and I replaced that. Another was P2269 which is water in fuel sensor.

The water in fuel dummy light on the dash has not lit up though.

After fixing the crankshaft sensor everything seemed fine.

Then this morning a small drop in rpms and the check engine came back on, and that P2269 code is still there.

Any thoughts here?

So in case anyone cares, I figured a couple things out.

The code for the low voltage can be caused by poor battery health. It can also be a precursor to the crankshaft sensor going dead. So it is likely that I cured both of those by changing the sensor. I had the batteries tested and they were both 100%.

The WIF code is likely from a bad batch of fuel. The engine light went off and everything was fine after lunch today. I did drain the fuel filter just in case.

Currently all 3 codes are still present as I've not reset the codes yet, or have not had enough drive cycles to reset them.

I'll take it in to the shop tomorrow and throw some money away on diagnostics, but I'm not really confident that they will come up with anything.

Do a search here @ NWbombers.com http://www.nwbombers.com/forums/

I use to be very active with this group before fishing, and kids sports took over my life. The are a great group (mostly Dodge guys), if you don't find what you are looking for sign up and and throw the question out like you did here. Chances are there are members close enough to help in person in need be, I kind of miss having the truck and the time to hang out with them, they became like extended family for a while.

There is also a national group called Turbo Diesel Register (TDR.com) Same thing only on a national scale.

Any time you drain part of the fuel system, you should try and capture the fuel that comes out in a clean container for close examination. If you see anything other than clean fuel, you'll need to address that. When you change the filter, dump the contents into a glass jar and let fuel sit a while so you can see what settles out.

My first brand new vehicle. Didn't plan on buying new but with limited used inventory and the cost of used, for a few grand more, I got new. Lots of pavement princesses out there with 60k miles and they want 40k plus for them. I don't need cooled leather seats and dual climate control.

For a couple more bones I got a workhorse Tradesman with a leveling kit and nice grapplers. Only 15 miles on the odometer.

Side steps and bed liner are next. Then Carhart seat covers and a tool box.

Giddy up.....

Nice truck. Your going to love it! I have a 2016 that I love. Gets great mileage too.

you might check out Marathon seat covers. Little more than carhartt, but they are fantastic!

Good call on the marathons. I have a set of neoprene cover kings that I got from my in laws, and I love them, but if it were my money I would buy marathon.

A good molded floor liner is something to look in to as well

I took her to her happy place today.

I have brand new Weathertech floor mats from my trade in. They're not a prefect fit but will work until I scrape together the coin for new ones.

Too bad my brand new Carhart covers didn't fit. Guess I'll post them for sale. Spendy covers at $500 for a full set. Maybe I'll get a few bones for them to offset the cost of new ones.

Loving the truck. Seriously. It's great!

It goes in for running boards (so I can retain some dignity when trying to climb in) and a bed liner this week.

New Carhart covers and weather tech mats should arrive this week.

What I need now is a tool box.

I've decided against the ones that go along the side of the truck box as I would lose width and my pontoons wouldn't fit. I'll have to get one that goes across behind the cab.

Looking for input on which ones to be looking at. I want to stay with a max of $500 if I can, but willing to pay for quality.

Any input?

A headache rack and tool box would look good on it. I did that on my 05 and it brought it to life. Looks great. I would love to have a new one, but my cummins only has 69,000 on it, it might be good for a few more milesšŸ˜€šŸ˜€. How did you like the carhart seat covers for wear? Did pet hair stick to em like the carhart jackets?
