Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet. It was plenty brutal today that’s for sure

Way better day than yesterday ocean wise very nice. I think we brought eight fish to the boat got a gal her first ever tuna her third fish ever the other two were shad. She reeled in five of the fish on the lightest outfit on the boat seeker, super light blank(think live bait, rockfish) one of our favorites ultra light tackle. The same two rod out of five went off every time the other three rods weren’t touched all day. Fish have been eating small bait fish yesterday half inch long bait fish today. 2 inch long bait fish if I would’ve had a seasoned crew instead of a buddy and a gal who had never fish before it would’ve been good business to put out a spread with archer bars, but That takes a skilled crew. Very small baits today though. Forgot to mention large ball logic seen on the pig this morning. I only caught a short glam after my buddy notice large sickle tail, tall fin 15 inches or more a couple different individualsmaybe a small pack. Also heard someone call out that they had voted a 50 pound Bluefin. Crabbing still off the hook 26 bugs a pot at 120. I had my buddy on the boat today that owns Ottos sausage kitchen birthday on Thursday first pot. We pull is a blank. Oops guess the octopus has been here. At least that’s what we hope. Second pot pressure is off. After looking at photos, I would have to say the fish we saw were Marlin.

Fished on a buddy's boat (2 POB) west of the Pig and ended with 15 toads. Sounded pretty scratchy across the fleet with a lot in the single digits, so we were satisfied with our take. Most hookups were doubles or triples, just not much action in between. Then the bite totally died in the afternoon, we didn't pick up another fish after 1:00pm. Water was really warm (65-67°) and turquoise blue.

Fishing was rough today.ocean was great. We did ok considering though. From the sounds of it I think we did better then average but that’s because The evening bight was worth staying out for and I think majority didn’t stick it out.The bad was shortly after we left the 125 line to head in I hit a shark just under the surface. Hit so hard it wiped out my hydraulic steering. Not sure of other damage yet. Thankfully my buddy was able to tow me in. Long slow ride in though. Back at the dock around 1030 wasn’t worth trying to get into my slip as my season is done on my boat now. Got it on the transient dock. Heading back to the valley now. Come back tomorrow with my trailer and figure out how to get it over to the ramp and on the trailer.

We started with a troll over the Banana Reef. Water temp was there, but the fish did not come up. Moved out to the Pig with majority of the fleet and we only picked one fish off this area.

There was a pretty good picture in the morning that showed a good patch of clean water at 45.05/125.10. Two boats we know fished this area and had about the same results as those who stayed in closer.

We ended up at 54/57 for another 4 fish and missed a few. All these fish are such classic looking large Albacore! Fish cleaners said they have not seen a Peanut all day.

We started at the Banana and trolled out past the pig to pick up 2 by noon, had to get back to Newport so trolled back towards the banana and had an hour of great fishing, went 6 for 10 then had to leave. Lost the biggest Albacore I have ever seen right at the boat, had to be over 40. If I were to go back out I would fish that area between the pig and banana, lots of bait fish around. Most fish were on plain cedar plugs.

Started due west of Waldport about 35 miles out, and trolled north. Had 65.6 degree water, nice color. Didn't find any tuna. Marine life every where , birds, bait, and tons of sharks . Marked a lot of fish, probably sharks? Fantastic ocean, had the Arima scooting along at 25 MPH a good part of the day. Oh well next time.

Must have been a pretty good shark! Dang. Sorry to hear that.

the way it anchored me and pitched me hard right I was thinking sun fish or something. It wasn’t a giant. 6-8 ft maybe it actually ended up lodged/stuck under my bracket and back of motors. When I trimmed up my guys saw it pop loose and sink to the bottom. I had my autopilot on and I’m assuming it was such a shock to the system. That it blew up part of that pump but it’s all tied to together with both helms etc. so was helpless at that point. And not sure about if there was any lower unit damage yet. I woulda ran it in though if I could have steered.

I’ve toyed with adding auto pilot, but would only do it on the main motor as mine are separate systems. I guess that’s one reason to keep them separate. Thanks for the details, though. Good luck on the repairs.

Sunday and monday are looking good if the wind machine doesnt get to mean. I have a grandson that really wants to tear into a tuna:)
It looks like the further offshore you are the bigger the wind gets? I’m still gonna get a crew on standby.

Sunday the 30th looks amazing with no wind for many miles out. But the little wind they show is from the south. We hit a blue shark couple of years ago ripped the fish up but we found nothing wrong. Hit a whale also had blubber on the propeller but boat was fine. Have come close to big logs (thanks to everyone that calls them out) I think they would tear you a new one.
