Well someone has to do it
And judging by the amount of tuna I saw at the dock in Newport yesterday, it's time to start this. With my little boat and my experience level I probably won't be adding much to this. So let's roll boys and girls!
Must have been a pretty good shark! Dang. Sorry to hear that.Fishing was rough today.ocean was great. We did ok considering though. From the sounds of it I think we did better then average but thatās because The evening bight was worth staying out for and I think majority didnāt stick it out.The bad was shortly after we left the 125 line to head in I hit a shark just under the surface. Hit so hard it wiped out my hydraulic steering. Not sure of other damage yet. Thankfully my buddy was able to tow me in. Long slow ride in though. Back at the dock around 1030 wasnāt worth trying to get into my slip as my season is done on my boat now. Got it on the transient dock. Heading back to the valley now. Come back tomorrow with my trailer and figure out how to get it over to the ramp and on the trailer.
the way it anchored me and pitched me hard right I was thinking sun fish or something. It wasnāt a giant. 6-8 ft maybe it actually ended up lodged/stuck under my bracket and back of motors. When I trimmed up my guys saw it pop loose and sink to the bottom. I had my autopilot on and Iām assuming it was such a shock to the system. That it blew up part of that pump but itās all tied to together with both helms etc. so was helpless at that point. And not sure about if there was any lower unit damage yet. I woulda ran it in though if I could have steered.Must have been a pretty good shark! Dang. Sorry to hear that.
Iāve toyed with adding auto pilot, but would only do it on the main motor as mine are separate systems. I guess thatās one reason to keep them separate. Thanks for the details, though. Good luck on the repairs.the way it anchored me and pitched me hard right I was thinking sun fish or something. Dont tell my wife that , She thinks I get to early to fish as it is !!!!!Just talked to a friend of mine. He got 10 around the Pig yesterday. All 20lb plus fish. He said the bite didn't even start until 1:00.
Funny how fast that forecast changed. It is looking good, but I swear two hours ago it wasnāt.Sunday and monday are looking good if the wind machine doesnt get to mean. I have a grandson that really wants to tear into a tuna![]()
It looks like the further offshore you are the bigger the wind gets? Iām still gonna get a crew on standby.Sunday and monday are looking good if the wind machine doesnt get to mean. I have a grandson that really wants to tear into a tuna![]()
