I was listening to an outdoor radio show and they were talking about engine maintenance. The guy was saying that you can hook you hose up to the flushing hose on the engine and then run the engine to flush it. Is that correct? I thought you couldn't run the engine with just the flushing hose.

There are people that do it, and say they have never had an issue. The theory is that enough water makes its way down the water pump outlet tube to keep the pump lubed.
You have two options, do whatever some guy says, or follow the manufacturer's recommendation.

I have the 300, and if I flush with hoses I use two. Muffs on the bottom, tape off intakes, and then another hose up top on the flushing connection.
