Yes, but I was trying to waste money on something fancy and overengineered.

 

I would recommend a Delphi or Deutsch style connector that is weatherproof rated.

2nd the Deutsch connectors, have them all throughout a car build I did a few years ago, and have used them for my boat's dashboard. They're weathertight on the wiring side as well as the connection side and the come apart easily. Comes in various sizes depending on how many wires you have.

You will need the Deutsch crimper to make up a correct connector.

I got a kit and crimper from this ebay dealer a few years ago. He customized the mix of connectors for me, which was nice. Ebay connector kit

They're overkill for 90% of the stuff I do but that's what I like about them.

 

Use deutch connectors. Rugged, reliable, and waterproof. Order from Digikey.com and they aren't super expensive. Or, show up at next weeks Tualatin chapter CCA meeting and ask me for some. I always have a collection in my truck. Just let me know you are coming.

 

What is wrong with using trailer connectors? I always coat mine with dielectric grease to reduce corrosion and keep water out.

 

Everything is wrong with trailer connectors. The OP wants the connection to work. Trailer connector wires aren't tinned so they will rot.
