A friend of mine at work said they were starting to catch salmon in the bay down there. Now thats somewhere I can get my boat (17' jon). The only salmon fishing I have done is mooching out of Monterey and many many moons ago growing up on the Puget Sound, trolling with downriggers and plug cut herring.

So how do ya fish the bays? I would love to get down there and give it a shot.

Be carefull at Win.Bay in a 17' jonboat.Check the forecast and tide tables.With a jonboat I'd put in at Reedsport and start fishing about a half mile west of the old Gardiner mill up to the elk viewing area on an incoming tide reverse on the ebb.When trolling or running use the south channel opposite the mill.

No need for downriggers.Try 4,6,8 ounces cannonball to get down to the fish.Spreader with weight,small fishflash,brined cut plug herring is one method to try. Bob.

Early in the year there a lot of people fishing for the "STEP" fish that are released and have been raised in the small creek near the moorage basin. The good fishing will be a little later in August.
