(suppose this is only partly salty) I talked w/ one guy yesterday at the South Bend boat launch. He was a local w/ an annual launch pass. He said he had been out 6-7 times this year and has yet to get a fish. He said by this time last year he had caught many fish. He did not go all the way to Tokeland and said he saw one fish caught yesterday. This Labor Day weekend in South Bend should be busy in any case. Last weekend the launch parking area filled up and this weekend should be much more busy. If the lot is full, people park along the highway, which is legal, according to the SB Chief of Police. Even if there is not room in the parking area, there is still the fee for launching the boat and rigs w/trailers parked on highway are checked for launch stubs. There is also a SB fishing derby on Saturday and Sunday which should also add to the numbers of fishers. Any reports from Tokeland, where the majority of fishers launch from? Has there been a fish checker there? We hope to go out of South Bend Wednesday in search of tuna, probably around Willapa canyon and won't be fishing the river or bay.
