For drift fishing I like Green Maxima in lines 15 and less and Big Game for heavier.

For trolling, backbouncing, bobber fishing and sturgeon I pretty much run Power Pro in 50 or 65.

Bobber & eggs - 60 lb fireline

Bobber & jig - 25 lb fireline

Other than that im a big believer in mono. I like the same brands as Dave does - Berkley Trilene big game for everything 20 lb plus and Maxima for everything 15 lb and down. Always Maxima leaders. Maxima has good knot strengh - and doesn't burn as easy as some.

For a few things where florocarbon makes a difference I like the seaguar brand.

Maxima Ultragreen. They are coming out with the flourocarbon next month. I've used it and love it.

I'm a Maxima Crystal Ivory kinda guy...15# for steelhead and Coho(casting or trolling) and 20# for all my Chinook fishing. 20 Yes...20# I have great confidence in my knots and my drag system which makes a big difference on any line you use

Two lines from the bass side of life that work GREAT for steelies/salmon/everything.

TripleFish is great stuff. Strong, works great for baitcasting. You can really see it drift fishing.

Spiderwire *** .......AWESOME for baitcasting. My primary choice for all around use.

For leaders steelie fishing its almost always ultragreen or Bass Pro XPS flouro in various sizes.

I like Silver Thread or any copolymer in a mono filament type line and PowerPro or Tuff line in a braided line. You can not find a line with more abrasion resistance than a copolymer unless you want to use steel. It also has the least stretch of all mono filament type lines. The super lines like Tuff line are good for bobber, trolling and big fish like sturgeon but have a real low abrasion resistance.

All my fishing is from the bank.
Winter Steelhead/Springers = 12 pound Big Game and a lot of patience
Summer Steelhead = 4-6 pound Low Vis any brand
Fall Chinook = 15-20 pound Big Game (maybe less if the rivers are very clear)

I've found that fish are a lot less line shy than I first beleived in hte first few years of fishing.

I don't go under eight for any kind of steelhead and I don't go under 20# leader for chinook, ever, even if I can see twenty feet down.

A guy works hard for a fish, why take a chance of not getting it? Unless you're just out there for the scenery......
