Hey guys how's everyone doing? I am looking for some info on fishing the willamete for small mouths. Don't have a boat so wondering if there are any good places to go to fish off the bank. I found a few places like Cedaroak park in west linn and Also the public fishing docks under the west linn bridge. Any info would be great thanks everyone. Feel free to send a pm or just replie to post.

Can access river from MS Young Park. Use the upper lot and hike to the bottom of the trails. Multiple ways to get down to the river. You can also park at the end of Mapleton and hike in. Once you are at the river, look for an outcropping of rock(s) about in the middle of the park's waterfront. That is a very good small mouth area. Bring a plastic bag and pack out some of the trash from those that leave trash behind. Gets a bit ugly at that location.

From that location, can go north along the bank and eventually bump in to the ramp that will get you on Cedar Island. Fish the inside cove, most popular is the south end of the cove. The floating logs at the NW end have crappie but you need a float tube or the like. Carp, smallies are along the banks inside the cove.

There are also fishing docks WL side below Willamette Falls.

When you are fishing these areas, ask others where they fish along the river.

Also know any where along the river bank below the ordinary high water mark is considered Public Greenway. Most of the property owners along the river are cool with it. If you run in to one not, just move on.

Alot of people fish from and around rock island on 99E between Oregon city and Canby. There is a pull out on the side of the highway where people park and walk in. It is a more heavily fished area, but has alot of rocky structure and deeper water which the smallies love. It should produce and doesn't require a boat to access.

Well went out and tried rock island. No luck at all. Not sure if I was in the right spot. Fished a lot of the sloughs and some of the main river. Used 3 in mister twisters chartreuse in color with a 1/8oz jig head and also plastic worms pumpkin and green in color with a 1/8 oz weight head. Even threw out some rapalas and still no luck. Oh well I guess that's why it's called fishing. Going to head out to Cedaroak tomorrow and maybe that other park in west linn.

Went out ms young park in west linn. Caught the first smallmouth of the day after my second cast. Second fish had to really work for it. Looks like it could be a great place to fish when they are bitting. Used a grub with a spinner. Both fish were ok in size. Going to go back and hope to catch the big one!!
