3 years ago today, we lost our dad. It still hurts. I think about him everyday. He's missed by all that knew him! He touched a lot of people's hearts but none more than his family's.
He taught me how to fish for salmon at age 10...that was back in 1960. Family was not only first for him, we were everything to him. He worked very hard but as he was nearing the end, he never once talked about the work...It was all about the "good life" he knew he had lived and how "wonderful a family he had." He talked about "all those evenings boating on Puget Sound". He loved the water and his salmon fishing at Johnson Pt. near Olympia.
One of the last things he wrote down on paper near the end, was..."I don't know how a family could be more loving, or loved".
He had a real zest for life, which has carried over to the rest of us.
At any rate, I was thinking of him this evening and just thought it would help to share that he was no only my hero at a young age, he's still my hero today...As one of my cousins said at his funeral, "if you could hand pick a dad, HE's the guy you'd pick." ...He was simply a lot of fun!
We all miss you dad!
Love,
Dan and the family.
