Tube or Tubeless peep

I just put a string loop on today and its shooting 3 inches high right.
By adding a string loop, you just lengthened your draw. Even though its a small amount the area where your eye would normally look through your peep could have changed and you are looking LOWER which raises your sight up. This would explain why you are shooting high. If your peep doesn't alway come straight back to your eye, you can have them either add or remove a twist from your string to help line it up. You'll need a press for this.

Also: If your peep is tied in, try sliding the knots up or down a little and this will make the peep twist into place depending on which way it is twisting.

Out of habit, the first thing I do is manually twist my peep into place before I draw back.

Went tubless after I saw a guy at the range almost loose his eye from the tube break and hit him dead in the eye. Use a good string (winners choice) and tune your bow properly (keep it tuned) and your peep will not twist.

I have only shot tubeless. After hearing of differant horror stories before i got into archery. I think i will stay tubeless.:D

Well from the sounds of it you guys definitely have me leaning towards the tubeless peep. What brand would you guys recommend? I've heard good things about the G5.

Totally tubular dude, but then again, I don't have string guaranteed to not twist. I'll try a tubeless on my next string purchase, The Bow Rack will be where I go to get'er done.

Everyone keeps mentioning WC strings, well I didn't go that route. I ordered mine through Rock Solid Strings.

Micah posted above, he is pretty good with the technical stuff. He lives in Oregon City too and might be willing to help out a bit.

I don't know spit about tuning, that is why I rely on The Bow Rack in Springfield.

Rock Solid makes a good string from what i hear on Archerytalk. You shouldn't have to worry about your peep rotating with that string.

The first rule of bowhunting. If it can go wrong it just did.

It's said in jest, but it's also true. You always have to keep it in mind. If something can go wrong it will. This applies to peeps, too. I use a tube but am interested in tubeless ideas and am reading this with interest. How do they work?

Anything to make it simpler, but am keeping the first rule in mind.

I vote for the tube, I think that they are the greatest thing since perforated toilet paper and I never had one break. I replace my loop every summer and after reading this thread I think I will replace the tube at the same time.

if you dont like tubes, but have peep rotation problems. check out the g5 speed studs, stops rotation and adds 5 to 10 fps on your bow

A few truths A rubber tube will always break at the worst time , you cannot get a plastic peep with a big enough hole to work in low light . Always get a peep with the biggest hole possible for hunting , only target archers need the smaller sizes for scope ring alingment , you need all the light you can get . use a high quality string and do not worry about peep alignment until you put 200-300 arrows down range. Use a string loop and have it made as short as possible , combine that with a newer style hook release and you will gain up to an inch of draw length = more speed . the new hook releases are easier to establish an anchor point in the corner of your mouth=consistent shot to shot accuracy . The corner of the mouth anchor usually results in the string touching your nose which is also a help in establishing a consistent anchor point . All of these lead to good practice habits , fundamental to consistent accuracy . Personnelly i have always liked Tru-peeps ,they have been around for a long time and build a good product . While on the subject of new strings I always shoot in my factory string , set it up with a loop and peep pull it off the bow and hook the ends together so it stays set , put in the same bag my new string came in and you have a spare all setup and ready to shoot so you don't have a spoiled hunt .

Id stay away from the G5 peeps. The material they use is very soft and they tend to oval out after time. A standard 3/16th Tru Peep is the best in my opinion.

As far as to tube or not, well go without. If you set the string up with a quality string loop it will act as a peep aligner and you wont need the peep tubing. Peep tubing is loud, can cause tuning issues, and they break at the most in opportune times. So avoid it if you can. It can always be added later if you are having problems.

Tubeless all the way. Tubes make to much noise and slow your bow down.Plus you have to replace them and carry a extra just incase the one on your bow breaks. To much hassle for me.

I have been really happy with my G5 Meta.

Even with bows that have crappy strings...the RAD tubeless peep that splits the string into 3 parts works well and you don't have to worry about rotation.
