I'm trying to figure out the differences between a luxor 20 OB and the OB/OS? As near as I can tell the floor is 6 inches wider on the OB/OS and all else is identical. Am I correct? or am I missing something?
Thanks to all that take time to help enlighten me...

38" sides - Great boat by the way and when you add the rails even my wife stopped worrying about the grandkids falling overboard. Very dry boat in rough water, but it's a little bit tough fishing on windy days.

Main differences are:
Luxor OS 38" side height vs. 34" side height on Luxor OB
This gives you 32 1/2" of freeboard vs 28 1/2"

Luxor OS has a 78" bottom vs. 72" bottom on Luxor OB

Luxor OS transom is .250 vs .190

The biggest difference is an 18 degree progressive V hull on the Luxor OS vs. a 16 degree constant deadrise hull on the Luxor OB

Luxor OS has a larger transom fish box and has standard storage under each dash.
Also has a standard bow box storage vs. an optional

feel free to PM me for more in depth info

I am leaning toward getting a luxor 20 OB/OS. Because of the large price diff over the luxor 20 OB I want to make sure it is worth it. I plan on using the boat primarily in the big C and its estuary. and some near shore bottom fishing and crabbing. I like the factory setup, but would upgrade to suspension seats with swivel feature. I haven't decided if the yami 150 or Suzuki 140 would be best for power or is a bigger outboard needed? Do any current T/J owners have opinions on motor size? Or any opinions on how to set up a Luxor OB/OS.?

There is a big difference between the boats. On paper it doesn't look like much but in person the difference is huge. It is like the Hewescraft SeaRunner 220 vs the OceanPro 220. If you can, check them out side by side and in the water. While fishing the Alexis will be a more stable platform.

The Alexis is the bigger boat. The price difference is worth it to go bigger. On the 20 Luxor the 140 Suzuki or Yamaha 150 would be just right. Both engines have tremendously good reliability.

We have a 2003 , 140 hp Suzuki on a 20ft Thunderjet hard top with off shore bracket . We have been very happy with the combination to date, no problems with ether. WE pick our days very careful with weather trending better and have never had any concerns. I think you would be happy with ether motor,I would look at witch one I could get serviced close to where I lived Any other questions you can send me a PM.

Thanks for the input on the Suzuki 140, I looked at a used 2004 20' luxor O/B that had a Suzuki 115, the guy that owned it said it was very underpowered. with the OB/OS being so much heavier I wonder if the 140 would be adequate for it. perhaps a 175 would be a better fit?

Here's a view out of the back of my 20' Luxor offshore. Love the Yamaha 150. This photo was taken out of Garibaldi on a windy day. Love the upswept bow on the offshore, as well.
G/W that's a beautiful shot out the stern of your T/J. It looks like it would be a nice dry ride, How does it handle the chop? Does it pound or give a good ride? Also, how do you like the Yami 150? do you wish for more power? Also, do you have power steering? If not do you wish you did.
Do you have trim tabs? If not do you wish you did? I am just full of questions, I'm seriously gettin' in the mood to pull the trigger on a new piece of aluminum, and you have the exact boat I'm looking for.

I have a 2010 luxor OS with a four stroke 150 and T8 Yamaha's. You must have hydraulic steering, this is not even an option. You don't need trim tabs, this 20 ft boat with a large reverse chine rides nice and flat all the time and is not too sensitive to weight distrubtion. Don't mount your kicker on the platform get a 3/4 platform and mount the kicker on a weld on bracket on the transom. Yes you need suspension seats on swivels not the POGO type and you need dual windshield wipers, dual bilge pumps, dual batteries and a wash down pump. The boat is horrible for trolling in the wind in crowded conditions think between the I5 and the railroad bridge on the Columbia. It also sails in the wind anchor fishing. These attributes that hurt fishing function make a very safe and dry ride. I should have got a 22' Alexis hardtop with a 200 on it but it cost 15,000 more. So you see there are tradeoffs do you want to feel safe trolling at bouy 10 and offshore or do you want better control fishing near the Portland Zoo. I also halibut and tuna fish out of mine and can discuss backing into the drift with these boats and limitations of their 50 gallon fuel tank. I bought from Siglers and got a lot of boat for the money (I'm happy) the rigging and cleanup leaves alot to be desired.

Same 2010 non OS.
Hydraulic steering: #1 thing I wish I had
140 Suzuki: OK, but 150 would be better
3/4 swim platform with weld on trolling motor: Yes
Dual bilge: Yes
Dual Wiper: Yes
Wash down pump: Yes
Suspension seats: I wish I had those.
Bad in the wind: All windshield boats are. I use a Minn Kotta Ipilot on the bow when I troll.
Hard top: That would be nice. Alaska bulkhead. Oh ya.
I also bought from Siglers. Alot of nicely finished boat for the money.

I totally agree with the last post. The next boat will be a little bigger, more powerful, and a hardtop. Other than that, I am very happy.

Great information from all you Luxor owners. You all have given me some great real life experience insights and a few things to think about that had not even occurred to me. keep 'em coming!!!

One thing I didn't expect is that a few of you who own what I consider to be the biggest boat I will ever need, have 2footitis. I retired 4 yrs ago and started out with a 15 ft Alaskan then jumped to an 17 ft Alumaweld and now I'm getting ready to move up to a 20 ft T/J. Does it never end?????

After hearing couple guys complain about Kicker location on OS bracket. I've been doing some searching of what to do for my build.
came across this set up. seems like a great compromise.

I live in Alaska and have been following Siegler's for years on the internet with their inventory. On the Luxor or Alexis they never seem to carry the full hard top nor AK bulkhead. ACB West (closed) used to carry the TJs with full HT and bulkeads. It must be the local market, but there is a world of a difference being on a boat with the canvas and the fully enclosed boat.

My ideal setup would be a 22' Alexis full hard top, bulkhead, rear walkthough transom, Yamaha V6 Offshore DEC controlled 250 or 300, kicker, Safety-Hauler, electronics, suspension seats, blue or green paint. all pulled by a Ram 3500 Laramie diesel Megacab SRW.

No doubt, since this is posted in the salty dogs board, once you get the Salt Water bug there is no going back, a 20' +os is plenty for fresh water.

sure i will this satuday

if really crowded which i tend to avoid you can idle the main and pop it into gear for a couple seconds if you need too. not so sluggish then. just enough to make a quick turn or stop. you arent doing that with a tr-1. but like was said mostly in the ocean.
mine was made by siglers but could easily be done youself if you can cut the mounting plates.

GW... Thanks for your post, it is very informative. I do have a question about the bow railing. I don't see an anchor nest, so I don't know if you fish the big C or not. The bow seems to be sorta shallow to be up there trying to set an anchor on a sporty day. Do they offer a taller railing as an option?

The bow area is shallow.....which I prefer for the ocean. I don't anchor fish the Columbia, and there is not an anchor nest on my boat. The anchor is in the bow locker. Can't remember the last time that I anchored. You'll have to check with TJ regarding railing options.
