I have heard alot about fishing the thermcline and understand what it is. But have no idea to tell where it is. Do you use your fishfinder to see it. Do you have to have a color fishfinder . Just how do you figure out where it is.

Great refference wright angle......You can find it with your sonar, Just turn it to manual mode turn off your ASP or ACG on some finders. then adjust you intensitivity or gain back and forth till you see the little returns that all seem to be at the same level....update your self now and then because they can change. Some times a reef with tide movements can cause upwelling and this is a key spot for any fish that swims. wind, wave and fetch can drive the layer deeper. but 80% of the suns rays are absorbed in the first 2 feet of water.....Im a big oceanography fan (I used to track submarines for a living so Ive done alot of studying)....use your computer search engines and look up sound travel in water and this well open alot of avenues that you might not have thought of before....DJ
