This is where all related topics regarding Measure 114 will take place. If you start a thread elsewhere it will not be moved here, it will be removed. We are having to babysit and deal with too many threads on this subject, so to have it all in one place it will be more manageable. Please adhere to the AUP. We know the topic is political, but it's important to our recreational choices as hunters and fishermen. This means keep it civil and on topic.

Last Sunday in February bump 😊
What is the consensus on potential 114 impacts to shipping/receiving firearms for repairs?

Currently, it appears the law says an owner can ship direct for repairs and receive back direct from repairs without transfer through FFL. To my interpretation, there is nothing that changes this in 114.

If measure does become law, I sure hope it does not, if a person ships his firearm to the factory for repair with magazines that have a capacity to hold more than 10 rounds the manufacture, I believe, will not ship those magazines back to the owner when the firearm is repaired. I have shipped several handguns back to the manufacturer for repair and I never sent the magazine with the gun.

^^^^ Yes - I saw this mag recommednation in the return instructions from the factory for the impacted states.
OSP used to publish monthly reports on FICS transactions that showed total number processed and the approval/denial rates, but I can't find any report newer that June 2018 in the State library.

It is interesting to look back at the old reports. For example, in December 2017 OSP processed 32,798 total FICS transactions. A better than 1,000 per day average.

Currently, OSP does not appear to be operating at anything close to that former rate, but I have also been unsuccessful in finding a current or near current FICS report to compare against.

I'm sure someone told them to slow it down because they're working too hard!
Saw this on the news today:

Yeah I saw that. So frustrating. All the items they are trying to put into a new law are going to fail at SCOTUS based on the Bruen ruling. Especially the "ghost gun" law, as serial numbers were not even required until 1968 so they're trying to make all guns illegal built before 1968 and any home-built gun since then. Which has been perfectly legal, and all the "ghost gun" laws will fail Bruen's historical test. Just crazy.
I would support Moms Demand Action if they wanted to secure the schools: IE metal detectors, auto locking doors, buzzed entry vestibules, school resource officers, etc. That's the action they should be demanding. But they just want to ban guns in Oregon and "save lives". They are no better than lift every voice. Darn that pesky 2nd amendment and Oregon state constitution...
Here’s a crazy idea …deal with a dealer that will release purchase in 3-5 days .Don’t think andy manufacturers have Exclusive points of sales .We still have 3 FFL lic.in our immediate family ,we have been able to get our hands on anything ,and actually had a more personal relationship with suppliers .
A lot easier right now to find what you want to purchase ,make the transaction ,purchase will be sent to your FFL that will release purchase in 3-5 days if no red flags.
Yes things may not be on the shelf , but a phone call ,payment, shipping it’s on its way ,and your purchase can be in your hands sooner than the current 2month +- wait.

Why support a business that are not putting effort to combat these Bills.

I just saw on the news there is a status hearing in Harney County at 1:30pm today FYI. Not sure if live streamed or not but let's hope for some good news.
Did not catch it all but it sounded like JUNE 16 is a set summary judgement date - for scheduling purposes.

EDIT: I see another forum has noted the Harney Court trial is set for SEPTEMBER 18-22.....so questioning this.....
yeah - it is over. It was a short one as they dropped from the public forum after the new date was established. There was nothing more to discuss with regard to 114 at that point.

Gun show today and tomorrow in Albany. How does this measure influence or change gun purchases from vendors? Has to be disappointing not knowing if you can even buy a gun at the show.

It doesn't have any impact. The rules are what the rules were. The rules are, and will be, the same at a gun show as they are, and will be, at a retail store front. Oregon has no "gun show loophole" and hasn't since 2015.
@Hookset and @SquarePeg: The impact is only a result of the sales surge and check delays. I have heard that show vendors are calling in all requests to OSP and getting improved results occasionally; in Oregon, 'immediate' check is 1-day [faster than the 3-day ATF/fed allowance] - some may be going that direction if the buyer meets sellers criteria but that would be their call.

You are correct. Several are releasing firearms after 3 days. So if you want to get down to brass tacks, more guns are being released without review of application today, than before they came out with this foolish bill.

The other odd thing is the back up in cc , and sheriff deputies and Judges being put into the wait line 😳🤔
