Hi All,
I need to tap the ifish wealth of knowledge. Can

someone clue me in, I know kids don't need a

fishing license till the are 16. My question is,

do they need a tag to retain salmon & steelhead?

I am finally taking my 12 year old daughter out

for a day on the CR, and want to be legal.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes. Anyone angling for salmon or steelhead needs a tag.

The way that I read the reg's for kids is that they need a combo license that cost 5.48 $ and a catch card which is free.

Combo license would only be necessary for fishing in the salt. CR only requires the catch record (free).

She does not need a license until she is 14, but she does need a tag. You can get her a juvenile tag, which is $6.50.

I work for ODFW, so you can take my word for it!
Just realized you're in Washington! Oops, nevermind!
Thanks all,
I will pick up a tag today, thanks. Fishgirl , thanks for the Oregon info, I will fish in Oregon
all the time, so I will pick up a Oregon tag for her when I go to Tillamook Bay with her.
When I read the header I thought "Wow, now we have to tag our kids?? Wonder if they
need to be fin-clipped, too?".
