Taft Bay

Going over this coming tuesday and spend some time goofing off,
Can you fish from the pier at taft, behind Mo's or do you have to fish from the beach??
And what's a good time to fish it, when the tide comes in or any time??
Bate, Shrimp? clams,
Any help out there. Tight lines Mr.A

Re: Taft Bay

You mean Siletz Bay?

The fishing pier @ Mo's is very shallow, even in high tide. Not much fishing action there. You can do OK crabbing from that area up to the jaws of the bay (very deep slack water near the beach) with crab hawks or crab snares.....but other places are much better. Better idea is to rent a boat at the marina near the bridge on the Siletz (to the south) and fish for pile perch around pilings in tidewater around the bridge. You can dig shrimp right there in the bay, I don't know about clams...never dug them there  Also if you have a surf fishing setup you can fish for redtail perch on the beach @ high tide (with shrimp or red yarn).
