I lived in a little town called Valsetz as a kid (the town no longer exists). There was a 750 acre "pond" the mill used for log storage that was loaded with bass. I can remember hopping across floating logs just to get to a better fishing spot - wouldn't even consider that now as I am MUCH heavier and MUCH slower!

My buddy & I decided to go down to the Hoodsport hatchery for some combat fishing during the chum run- it was high tide up against the breakwall & we both noticed this guy at the far end of the line was in jeans up to his waist in the very cold water -it was also a frosty November morning. We chuckled at the sight of the poor guy concentrating on casting his offering to the finning school all the while shivering so bad we could almost hear his teeth chattering.

Then my buddy takes a closer look & says "Oh my gosh! That's my brother!" I couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.

I think he got new waders for Christmas.

Last Winter at the Deadline on the Kalama I saw a guy fall off a rock, his rod went shooting in the river, he climbed back on that rock and dove in after it, waders and all! :shocked: I dashed over to help him, and All he said was, I am glad I didn't loose my LOOMIS!
