Today was a great day out in the river. Perfect tempurature, perfect weather, late tide, what more could a guy ask for.

That is why I don't feel so bad about coming home with nothing. It was nice to just hit the river and hang out with my pops.

We were around the Oak Tree area and we didn't see ANYONE catch anything but shakers. We stayed out for a few hours messing around and then packed it in early today.

We were tempted to go for Salmon at the mouth of the Lewis, but were feeling lazy and decided to pack it in.

Are the Salmon still running through the St. Helens area?

Anyway, we (and everyone we saw) was using smelt or herring.

Just FYI...

Fished at the Forks on the Lewis all morning, I got one silver and saw one other BUT ....
we saw a school of Silvers that had to be several hundred strong. They we in a big pack and surfaced one after another in a large area, folks were shouting and yelling, it was pretty neat. An hour later, no one had caught one of them, darn.
What a relaxing day, the weather was beautiful.
