Several months ago I bought Scott Haugen's excellent book on egg cures. The author reveals his favorite cure which included sodium bisulfite. I finally found some at a home brew place here in Hillsboro so as soon as I get some fresh eggs I'm going to give Scott's cure a try.
I post the results when I'm done.

We use that stuff at work (we call it SBS) for dust control. I wonder if it's the same blend? :whazzup: It's rather nasty.

Winemakers use Sodium Bisulfite to kill the nasties in the juice before adding yeast.

Must be versatile stuff, we used to use it for clobbering free chlorine in wastewater. Very corrosive....

I've done the A.F.C. but added (4) table spoons of pro-glow red dye,not the cure.These egg's have worked great for winter steelhead and worked good on low water fall king's in the Port Orford area last fall.The texture of these egg's are nice.This would be a good cure with out the pure anis oil.But like the book say's it's the key ingredient to the cure.Good luck,
