What a slow day for springers on the Willamette on Saturday!! Only saw one fish caught by someone doing something totally different than everyone else (I'll have to remember that). The only thing that made the day memorable was catching my first sturgeon on my prawn spinner!! Thought for sure I had a nice springer on, until it jumped out of the water looking very unsalmon-like. Fun to catch anyway. Released unharmed.

Nanooks tool of choice for sturgies is a prawn spinner. At least that is what I heard a couple weeks ago.

I wish I would catch something. Any fish is better than no fish.
Nice job.

I saw some guys fishing for sturgies on sat. near swan island and they were just whacking them. Saw them hook up with two doubles while we trolled by. Is the willamette closed to retention? They thought so, I just was'nt sure. Wish I had brought the sturgeon gear ans some of the 9,000 lbs of smelt I have in my freezer. MY wife just loves it when our freezer has more bait than food.
