Does anyone use single hooks on their spinners while anchor fishing on the Columbia? I was wondering about how well they would work. It seems that I catch a lot more fish that need to be released than kept, and I think a single hook would be better in that regard. I was wondering how the strike to hooked ratio would be compared to trebles. Any input would be great.

Thanks, $Bill

Single hooks will put more fish in the boat. You may miss the occasional strike. But at the end of the season, singles will tag as many fish as trebles. If not more. They also are easier to release fish with.

If you are fishing smaller stuff( size 3s for example), the trebles on them are too small to land big kings with much reliability. The single will put them in the net. Better bite. Longer shanks help too.

It takes a while to build up confidence in "1 is better that 3". But it will come.
