Did you report him to the moderators on Rokslide - they seem to act quickly? Not that he won't try again but they're seemingly rather vigilant about these things.

 

I reported him about 3 hours ago. Have not heard anything. Assumed there was no recourse for me, but maybe they could stop him from scamming another member.

 

Always use goods and services when you pay for something online where you don't know the person. Both PayPal and Venmo have that option. There's many ways to protect yourself as a buyer.

 

Rokslide mods have responded and are asking for screenshots, so that's nice.

I'm in no way slamming Rokslide. I was dumb and paid the price.

 

Who was the perp or does he go by different names. Need to stay away from him.

Venmo is Part of PayPal.
You Need to file a claim with thier customer service ASAP.

me and the wife were looking at some furniture on craigslist, we liked what we saw but wanted to look at it in person. This guys scam was he would deliver for the same price so just send your payment and if you don't like it when it gets to you I will refund your money, I told him no you bring it to me and I will pay you in person, long story short he hung up trust no one these days its sad but it is what it is.

I see this all the time. Someone is looking for something pretty specific, and someone replies with "message me." You joined my group 2 hours ago, and you just happen to have this odd ball item the person is looking for? Get outta here

I have a very strict rule that I only pay via G&S with a stranger. That includes all you fine people here on ifish, till we have a relationship built! I will add enough extra money to cover the seller’s fees since I’m the one insisting on the buyer protection.

After we’ve done a little business, we move to the F&F method. Gotta build some trust before I send what is effectively cash…

 

To make you feel better on youtube a hacker that goes by nanohacker posted a video of how he got scammed and how he turned the tables on the scammer group working out of India.

 

Just got a second scammer now responding to my WTB post on Rokslide. Guy wants me to text him for pix, with a Houston, TX area code,but account says his location is in PA. ⛳ so I blew him off. Was just telling a friend about getting scammed the first time and now this guy seems suss. Opened my messages again and the guy is now located in NY. Alerted Rokslide mods and they booted him in minutes.

Those who said WTB posts are magnets for scammers are 💯% right. Never again.

 

I have bought quite a few things off rokslide and havent had an issue but you have to be somewhat careful. Ill always pay the extra 3% but there are lots of good folks on there. but like you said posting a wtb ad will get you a lot of suspect messages.

 

WTB ads are always going to be a prime target for scammers. Someone is obviously eager to buy something, and posting a WTB shows that. Many people get really excited when "billy from TN" just happens to have that item you were looking for. What are the odds?!?! Better buy it quick!
