Sandy river by rhododendron

Do salmon make it that high up? We have a cabin on the river This week and I’d like to know what gear to bring. Thanks!!

Most hatchery chinook on the Sandy turn off at the Bull Run confluence but there are some natives up on the mountain this time of year. Bobber and eggs or big spinner is what ive use in the past with success.

Isn’t the sandy river above the confluence of the salmon river(downstream of rhododendron near bright wood) closed to all angling?

• 5 hatchery trout per day, no minimum
length.
• Open for hatchery salmon and hatchery
steelhead all year.
• Combined daily bag limit of 3 hatchery
salmon or hatchery steelhead.
• Use of bait allowed.
• Two rod validation may be used all year.
• No angling from a floating device from 200
ft below Oxbow Park boat ramp upstream. • Closed within 200 ft of Chinook salmon
