When to Walmart to find some rocksalt today they didnt have any? Is this the same rock salt that they use to deice sidewalks? I got a salmon I would like to smoke tomorrow. What would happen if I used regular salt for a brine?

don't use iodized salt!!!!!!!!!!!!

non-iodized salt is fine for brining but the iodine in most table salt makes for a nasty metallic taste. if you get morton's salt, the package will say if it's iodized. if it's not, it'll say so in the small print.

Thanks for the advise guys. I almost didnt ask and applied regular table salt. I went to Safeway today to get some non-iodized and they had rocksalt there. So now I know where to get it.
Again thanks for the help.
