It hasn't been said in a while, at least I haven't seen it posted, but it has been my experience that when the river is on the rise even if it still has good color, the bite will be way off and you might as well stay home and do the "honey-do's". What does everyone else think?

I find the opposite is true. At least on the coastal rivers. A little bit of rain and rise in the river level will draw more fish and they start to move and are more aggresive on the bite.

I have had my worst days of steelhead fishing on a rising river. In the last 4 years I have only had one day where I have not at least hooked a fish on my home river. The river was rising that day.

Now I have a friend that is a springer magnet and he swears by a rising river for springers.
