Last year there were reports that because of some kind of malfunction with the fish ladder at the John Day Dam, the steelhead that usually hit the John Day River in the fall, never made it to the river. Based on those reports, last year I didn't make any November/December trips to the John Day. Has anyone fished it yet this fall, and do the forecasts say it will be a good season? :help:

I've heard of fish being caught but on the JD they go through in waves. FF'd it last weekend (Fri-Sun), just in the morning as my days were mostly filled with pheasant and chukar kills, and I didn't touch a thing. The water was clear. I was fishing pretty low, just above Rock Creek. I don't know of any forecasts...let me know if you find them someplace as I'll be hitting it again later in Nov and Dec.
