Kevin,
I was sorry to hear about Curtis had alot of laughs and great times fishing here in Oregon and many trips to AK. I wouldn't had the chance to fish AK if it wasn't for him. Been going to AK almost every year for the past 16yrs.
Gonna miss that laugh....

Re: RIP Curtis Hirschkorn AKA Sockeyeman

I first met Curtis when I was about ten years old, he and my step dad worked together, and quickly became good friends. For the next several years, he hunted with us for deer and elk. Curt was there when I shot my first buck. He was there when my step dad killed his first elk.
When Curtis became a Christian, he and my step dad's friendship wasn't as solid as it once was (weird how that works). Although he and my dad weren't as close, Curtis would still take me duck hunting, occasionally, or over to Mac to pick me up and take me Steelhead fishing. When I was about fourteen, Curtis introduced me to archery. He would take me to shoots as often as I could get to Salem.
Even though I remember Curtis when he wasn't the greatest of role models, what really stands out in my mind about Curtis, was his love for the outdoors. He shared that love of hunting, fishing, shooting, and camping with me. I am grateful, and very fortunate to have had a man such as Curtis as a mentor!

I'm proud to say I got to meet and fish for springers with Curt near Warrior Rock in 2010. He sure was one of kind. So sorry to hear he's gone.

Long may you run, my friend!
