Longtime member and past President of the Silver Lake Bass CLub died in a plane crash Monday morning NE oF Morton Washington on a flight to Lewiston.

Rod was a Tech at Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute in Chehalis, and was on one of their planes with a surgeon and pilot when they developed engine trouble. They turned and tried to get back to Chehalis, but did not make it.

Rod was a longtime competitor in bass events around the northwest. Always quick with a smile and a kind word. Rod and his partner Jimmy Allis had just placed 5th in the Washington Fedeation Scholarship tournament a couple weeks ago.

Rod was a devoted family man and will be missed by his many friends and family.

Rest in peace. The Rinta family is in our prayers.

Rod was a good guy!, He was a friend and will not be forgotten! Our club is going to celebrate his good life this saturday. I am sad to never see him agian. :palm: To pull to the tourney launch and not see or here Rod will be a differnt feeling all together. Rod was just finishing his dream house up this weekend on Riffe lake. He did not even get a chance to move in. Good luck Rod learning the new lakes and how the bass bite in the upstairs. My wife attended school with Rod and I was lucky enough to meet him at our church in Chehalis. It was just last Halloween we got to swap some fish stories and watch our kids run around and play. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost a loved one in the plane crash, espescially Rods daughter. Although I didn't know him very well, it doen't take long to see he had a great love of life, family and the outdoors, Rest in Peace....

The surgeons' name was Paul Shenk. He was a do anything for anyone kinda guy. He helped with my tuition at private christian school. It was the best thing that could've happened to me. It made a big difference in who I turned out to be and I have Paul to thank for it. God bless to all of the families involved.
