IFISH PHOTO CONTEST - THEME #3 - LIGHT & SHADOW!!!

The the theme for the first Ifish photo contest is light and shadow... Once again a timeless photography study with endless possibilities... I'm thinking lots of contrast, and maybe we will see some more black and white pictures??? But anyway, as always, its up to you and your interpertation.

To be considered for this contest your picture or pictures (2 maximum) relating to 'light and shadow' must be posted on this thread no later than midnight on September 15th, 2007.

Before entering, please read the contest rules posted here: CONTEST RULES

Remember, even if you are not going to enter the contest you can still participate by being a judge or donating a prize!

With regard to this thread, feel free to ask questions of the photographer or discuss the photographs posted, but lets keep it positive.

The prizes for the winning 'light & shadow' photograph is 3 bags of anglingaddict's famous Kettle Corn (as featured at Ifishstock) shipped to your door and also a $20 gift card to JOES donated by Matthewc.

HAVE FUN!!!

December, unamed, top secret river

I know its a little blurry. I was on a dead run to see the fish and realized I would not get there. So I stopped where I was and took the photo. Its hard to run in thigh deep water when I stopped feeling my feet and hour before. Is it hypothermia, or is it a magical moment captured in light? Hard to know.

no special settings, just turned the flash off, exhaled, tried to click in the instant I was standing as still as possible.

Waiting for the halibut crew to show up last year in Newport, this image grabbed my eye; the boat silhouetted by the early morning store light, the shadow of the boat and the deep colors of pre-dawn.

I'm going to go with the exact opposite approach that I imagine everyone else will, I'm going to go with low contrast and subtle light&shadows

Both pictures taken with a Canon Powershot A70

Crystal clear winter sky with a smoke plume and sunset over the Willamette/Marys Rivers.

Late afternoon shadows and sunset glow make a nice warm picture of a little girl learning to love all of this world's creatures.

HEy... now that IS my front yard! And did you ask Nick and Skip if you could take their picture?:wink:My previous picture is actually 200 ft downstream from my house, but this is much closer! Dang, now I'm gonna have to get there even earlier to avoid the crowds!

Nice pic...

Well, officially, I didn't ask them. They invited me fishing for the day. I rode to the river with them. And as usual, I didn't catch a thing but a few photos. It was my first day shooting with the new camera.

My oh my, you live in a wonderful place. Congrats.
